If you wish to embark on a historical trek filled with the forgotten traces of the Albanian state of Azerbaijan, then this route is perfect for you. This expedition along the “Albanian Trail” will take us to sacred sites and natural landscapes in northwestern Azerbaijan that bear the marks of the ancient Azerbaijan Albanian civilization.
Starting from the city of Sheki, our first stop will be the Kish Temple, one of the earliest Christian temples of Azerbaijan Albania. From there, we will follow ancient mountain paths to reach the Orta Zayzit Temple, where we will connect with the spirit of its enduring monuments.
Along the way, we will visit the Galarsan-Gorarsan Fortress, surrounded by stunning mountain scenery – a place remembered both for its natural beauty and its symbolic historical significance.
During the trek, we will stop in the village of Bash Kungut to visit its ancient church and cemetery, where we will explore the architectural remnants of the Albanian period. Finally, we will reach Bideyiz village, where we will discover two ancient Albanian churches and other historical monuments.
